Psychoanalysis as a Weapon

From Murray N. Rothbard:

Disclaimer: I've only partially read part of this.

A useful warning against the presumption and arrogance that may come from psychoanalysis, among other things. Notice especially the error that comes in attributing to neurosis what may be explained by reference to the qualities of the ideas held, themselves. That is to say, ideas can be bigger than the people who hold them, and it may be quite incorrect to attribute a cause to a personal attribute that may better find cause in the mere belief in an idea that gives rise to the action it contains within it. (If that makes any sense?)

I part with Rothbard in calling psychoanalysis a pseudo-science, though, for what he sees as characteristic errors of determinism and exceptionalism and more.
