My brain seizes up when I think about Social Security. I don't understand how it happens that a shift to a quasi-privatized system would entail vast new debts. Oh: It's simply because the current system would continue, whereby funds are transferred in the intergenerational shuffle, while the forced-savings system would begin as the other half of the deal.
