Confessions of a Right-Wing Liberal by Murray N. Rothbard

From a letter sent to a friend, the following. I highly recommend the Rothbard piece.

Right-wing liberal is a term I've advocated in use for some time,
though I myself have recently come to identify my libertarianism with
the left, though the efforts of Roderick Long (in his libertarian
feminist article, and in "Anarchy Plus" as well as elsewhere) and
others like Kevin Carson (Mutualist) and RadGeek (Geekery Today).
Rightwing free market libertarian/anarchist might also be
said--without redundancy. And anti-capitalist, it could be said,
without contradiction (see Carson's site).

It's amazing how Rothbard perceptively realized a reorientation on the
ideological spectrum, how the rightwing came to approach conservatism
in meaning, when it really should only mean a sort of 'social
conservatism'. Amazing how he shows once again how conservatism is
the health of teh state even more than just war, since it comprises
war, militarism, domestic controls and regulations. Amazing how the
rightwing used to harbor room for such salubrious ideologues as were
antistate, anti-war, anti-Big Business.
